VOLCANOES!!

Materials:
Empty pop bottle (16 oz. or 20 oz.)
Baking pan with high sides
1 tablespoon (15 ml) baking soda
1 cup (250 mL) vinegar
Red food colouring
Moist soil
Outdoors

Instructions:
Place the baking pan on the grass, and set the bottle in the centre of the pan.
Mound and shape the moist soil around the bottle to form a mountain. Bring the soil right up to the top of the bottle, but do not get the soil in the bottle.
Pour the baking soda into the bottle.
Colour the vinegar with the red food colouring. Pour the coloured vinegar into the bottle.
Stand back and watch the red foam spray out the top and down the mountain of dirt like lava from a volcano!
