A Guides' Horseshoe Ceremony

Traditionally Guide units open and/or close their meetings with a "Horseshoe." There are many ways of assembling into a horseshoe formation ; this is simply one way of doing it.

Begin by having the girls line up in their patrols behinid their PLs and facing the Guiders, YLs, Unit helpers etc.

It doesn't matter which patrol starts off - I usually choose the one which is lined up and ready first. They lead off forwards and to their left (your right as you are looking at them) and then round behind all the patrols and back to the front, the PL stops at the red X on the diagram; the other patrols follow on after them in order and form a horseshoe as shown below :

You can vary which patrol leads off each week or use any criteria you want for the honour of starting the horseshoe!
