Some short Prayers and Graces
God grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change
The courage to change the things I can
And the wisdom to know the difference
Revd Dr Reinhold Niebuhr
A Sioux Prayer:
O Great Spirit, help me never to judge another until I have walked one
moon in his moccasins.
O God our Father, let us not be content
to wait and see what will happen, but give us determination to make
the right things happen.
While time is running out, save us from patience which is akin to cowardice.
Give us the courage to be either hot or cold, to stand for something,
lest we fall for anything.
In Jesus' sake, Amen
Dr Peter Marshall (1902 - 1949) Chaplain to U.S. Congress
SOME GRACES BEFORE MEALS :
MORNING IS HERE:
Morning is here.
The board is spread
Thanks be to God
Who gives us bread
JOHNNY APPLESEED:
The Lord is good to me, and so I thank the Lord
For giving me the things I need:
The sun the rain and the apple seed.
The Lord is good to me.
And every seed that grows, shall grow into
a tree
And someday soon, they'll be apples there
For everyone in the world to share
The Lord is good to me.
FOR HEALTH & STRENGTH:
For health and strength and daily food
We praise Thy name, O Lord.
GOD HAS CREATED A NEW DAY:
God has created a new day,
Silver, and green and gold.
Live that the sunset may find us
Worthy his gifts to hold.
WORLD HUNGER GRACE:
For food in a world where many walk in hunger,
For faith in a world where many walk in fear,
For friends in a world where many walk alone,
We give you humble thanks, O Lord.
