Dear ..............................................
I know you have enjoyed your
years as a Guide - you may have been a Brownie and even a Rainbow
before that : have you thought how much you would like to carry
on with the fun as you get older? Do you think you're ready
yet to move on to Rangers? Rangers are aged from 14 up to 25
so you can join us as soon as you are 14, although of course
you don't HAVE to leave your Guide unit then.
......................... Rangers
would love you to join us : we can offer you even more exciting
and fun meetings and days out in a more grown-up setting than
you can have at Guides - after all, our Rangers are aged from
14 to 19, and some of the Guides are only 10 so you can't expect
them to be able to do the same sort of things as you older girls
can.
This term, for instance, we
have been sailing,
canoeing, abseiling and are doing an archery course, and of
course we are in the middle of planning our annual camp. Several
of the Rangers have been camping for weekends - two of them
have their own Permits so they don't need to take us leaders
along!
We've also been on a Ghost Walk, out for a meal at a restaurant
and to the theatre - and that's just in one term! These
are all things we have chosen to do - if you decide to join
us, you wil have your say and be able to choose what YOU want
to do.
We don't go out ALL the time
- the rest of the time we meet on a ...........................
night from............ to ............... in ...........................................................................................
with all sorts of things to do - sometimes it's a planned, formal
meeting, with maybe an outside speaker invited, other times
it's less structured and we do what we choose. (We tend to spend
a lot of time eating!) We do a lot of community work (local
and global) and several of the Rangers are also Young Leaders
with Rainbows, Brownies or Guides.
We have weekly meetings which we (the girls
and the leaders) plan before the start of each term: the Rangers
all get a copy of the timetable so they can see what's planned
and can fit the rest of their social life and homework around
it. You are coming up to an important time in your school career,
with SATs and GCSEs looming, and we DON'T expect you to neglect
your school work. If you have an exam and need to revise, that's
fine - although a phone call or message to say you're not coming
would be appreciated.
If you think Rangers is for you, talk it over
with your Guider or better still, give us a ring and arrange
to come and visit us and see for yourself. We know you won't
regret it!!
We look forward to seeing you!
