Activities |
- Maps : a) draw a map of your campsite (in the manner of
the maps in the books) and mark on it all the "Places"
; b) use a pre-prepared map of your campsite to mark on the
places and other details; or c) follow directions (forward
10 paces, left 90 degrees, forward 15 paces etc., or actual
compass directions.)
- Crafts : 1: jewellery from rolled paper; beads etc.("Dwarves
hoard"); 2 : costumes - cloaks, brooches, swords and
of course Rings; 3 : stones - find and paint (or otherwise
decorate) large smooth stones or pebbles for "seeing
stones."
- Trees : woods and forests are an important part of the LOTR
trilogy. Use your camp as an opportunity to teach (and learn
for yourself!) tree and wild flower recognition.
- Blindfold trail "through the Mines of Moria."
- The people of Middle Earth break out into song and poetry
at the drop of a hat - compose poems and/or songs about camp
etc.
- Archery (led by Legolas, of course.)
- Wide Game
|
Food |
Hobbits like LOTS of meals - breakfast, elevenses, lunch, afternoonses,
teatime, dinner and supper ..... so do Guides!
Banquets - Lembas (Elven cakes - biscuits to you and me) to
stave off hunger.
Backwoods cooking (Sam Gamgee is an expert camp cook!)
|
*Eowyn doesn't appear in Book 1 (and therefore in
the film) but she is beautiful, well 'ard AND lands Faramir, brother
of Boromir (and as Faramir is decribed as the "fairer" of
the two, and anyone who is better looking than Sean Bean......) and
so definitely deserves a mention!
