• Used rubber stamps & embossing to make fireworks themed badges - metallic on black paper
• Film canister rockets - as on guidingUK, or we used vinegar & bicarb of soda, which was cheaper & didn't look as bad on the shopping list as several packs of alka-seltzer!
• Popcorn, made on gas stoves (well it explodes, doesn't it?)
• Codes to solve
• Scavenger hunt at night for film canisters with reflective / glow in the dark tape stuck round. This was vaguely in theme - finding clues to a plot.
• Crafts - t-shirt painting (many of stars and fireworks), pepper lanterns (the shop was out of pumpkins and these were much cheaper) and nightlight holders - not really in keeping with the theme.
• Bouncy houses of parliament (well, bouncy castle)
• Archery - a popular sport in the days of the plot.
• Sparklers - real ones, and sparkler candles in the ice cream dessert!
